• This site publishes open letters and documented case records. Facts are stated from primary documents — the VA’s own records, dated correspondence, and case numbers — and are cited to them.
• Allegations are attributed to the person or family making them. Publication of a family’s account is not a finding of law or fact by the publisher.
• This site provides no legal advice and no medical advice, and publishing a story creates no attorney-client or provider relationship.
• Criticism published here concerns the job performance of public officials and agencies in their official capacities.

Redaction policy

The following never appear on this site: Social Security numbers; VA file, member, or claim identifiers beyond the public case-reference numbers families choose to cite (such as congressional casework or consult numbers); medical record numbers; full dates of birth (year or age only, where relevant); and DD-214 documents. If you believe an identifier of yours appears here in error, contact us and it will be removed.

Corrections and takedown

If you believe anything on this site is factually incorrect, or you are a person named here seeking correction or removal of your information, write to care@bowmanwebservices.com with the page, the specific statement, and the supporting record. Corrections are made in the open and noted on the page. Families who submitted stories may withdraw or change their consent tier at any time at the same address, and their published story will be removed or anonymized accordingly.

The VA’s standing invitation

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Office of the Secretary are invited to respond to any letter or case published here, at the same address. Substantive responses will be published in full, on the same page as the letter they answer.
